McKinney Falls” by Hailey E. Herrera, watercolor batik, 40”X30” SOLD

I have always enjoyed painting nature scenes in general. However, in recent years, my focus is the beauty of Texas in which I reside. My husband and I explored Texas state and regional parks before the lockdown due to my involvement in the Texas Park Project. We continue visiting parks after the lockdown to get some inspiration and breaks from working in my studio. This exhibition is a collection of paintings depicting Texas scenes and reflecting my appreciation of beauty in them. They are also scenes of an ever-changing view of nature. In some fashion, these captivating scenes may preserve for future generations an awareness of nature's value and spur care of our natural surroundings.

Willow Springs Road Bridge

Recently, I got interviewed by a Texas Co-op Power magazine about the Willow Springs road bridge and the painting I did in 2014. I visited the bridge early spring. Trees were bare and the bridge has a simple structure to it. It was somewhat of a challenge to create something uniquely mine out of these elements. With creative and artistic effort, I composed a new view of the bridge and surrounding nature. On the exhibit day, June 7, 2014, one gentleman complimented me stating the painting is the most beautiful work at the exhibit. The painting was purchased by Arts for Rural Texas shortly after the exhibit.
