We painted a blue heron in the watercolor class at #degallery last Wednesday. Here is my interpretation. Students worked on watercolor paper and I painted it on rice paper using batik technique.
I am happy to see the photo of the buyer from Tarpon Springs, FL. 44"X60" Acrylic print of "Turtle Reflections" has been delivered to the buyer's home. She said "Pretty excited to get it hung up!!! It is HUGE!!! And it’s BEAUTIFUL! Perfect for the spot.” Now It's hung in it’s special spot along side her tree #1. She is the owner of www.DeniseLewis.com who teaches how to use essential oils. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/turtle-reflections-hailey-e-herrera.html
I ordered matching throw pillows with my abstract paintings via Fine Art America. Happy with the result.

"Fall Maple Leaves (after Georgia O'Keeffe)", tonight's watercolor class at #degallery. The right one is Georgia O'Keeffe's Fall Maple Leaves. I was able to copy her painting with watercolor and learned a lot by doing it. Happy Fall!
Downtown Bryan Association celebrates First Friday’s 15th anniversary with new art project
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of First Friday in Downtown Bryan, Downtown Bryan Association has asked several artists to do an art project, HeARTbeat: paint 4'X4' (48"X48") wood hearts. These hearts will be displayed around Downtown on the next First Friday, Oct. 2.
Here is my design called "Starry Night over the Palace Theater". Since I am a watercolor artist, I decided to paint the design on the paper, and then mount it on the wood heart. I kept the image so I can use it for print products.
The painting "Moon Bridge" has found its new home in Norristown, PA. Warm thanks to the buyer who purchased the panting at Herrera Collection and Studio, HeH, https://www.haileyherrera.com/
Hay Bales and Wildflowers
used the same reference image to paint a field with round hay bales for my watercolor class at Degallery. I turned my one into wildflower field.
Colorful Presence
The painting "Colorful Presence" and its reference image. I used the negative painting technique for this forest scene and added a male cardinal. The painting has been sold.
Morning Solitude
The painting "Morning Solitude" and its reference image. I painted the pelican and water colorful as I pleased.
“Misty Morning” by Hailey E. Herrera
Roadside wild flowers and mesquite trees in the Texas Panhandle where my parents in law used to live nearby. I painted the scene with watercolor and pastel, and then took the finished painting to the Gallery at Round Top. It was sold fast.
“Magnolia Grandiflora” by Hailey E. Herrera
The painting "Magnolia Grandiflora" was created to submit to the international fund raising event, ACT (Artist Changing Tomorrow) International Invitational 2016. The invited artists were offered a signature membership in ACT and recognized and promoted on a national and international level.
The painting "Stand Together" has found a new home

After a Fresh Rain
I was passing through the Houston neighborhood and found a magnolia tree. I got out of the car to take a picture and made this painting "After a Fresh Rain".
Rose Garden
The painting "Rose Garden". The Barbara Bush Rose garden and Gazebo located behind the George H. Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas, one of the tourist attractions in Texas. The painting was created in a unique style and colors to highlight the charm of the garden.
Elegance in Red
The painting "Elegance in Red" and its reference photo. There was a little patch of wooded area in the neighborhood of my old house. I used to walk around in that area in the morning to find birds. I can easily spot some birds and cardinals are my favorite. It was hard to get a good photo with my cell phone but was good enough for painting.
American buffalo Series
"American buffalo", which was the first in a series of buffalo paintings. I made 5 more after that and they all have been sold. I wish I kept them all. "American Buffalo 4" was the last one sold. I was thinking of picking it up from the gallery but I was too late. Since then, I created "Herrera Collection", collection of my paintings I don't want to sell. So far, I have 34 paintings in Herrera Collection. https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/hailey-e-herrera?tab=artworkgalleries&artworkgalleryid=743635?affiliateId=A99243
“Great Blue Heron” by Hailey E. Herrera
For "Great Blue Heron" painting, I used a photo by Jon F. Hunter. I met him at Millican Reserve Farmers Market. He is a professional photographer specializing in birds. I asked him a permission to use his photos for my painting. Thank you, Jon. Here is my watercolor batik adaptation.
Painted Hills
For the painting "Painted Hills", I used my student, Deby Simpson's photo. Our class subject was painting a wildflower filed and she was painting her daughter on the bluebonnet field. Wildflowers in the picture caught my eye so I asked her permission to use them. Thanks Deby!
Willow Springs Road Bridge
Recently, I got interviewed by a Texas Co-op Power magazine about the Willow Springs road bridge and the painting I did in 2014. I visited the bridge early spring. Trees were bare and the bridge has a simple structure to it. It was somewhat of a challenge to create something uniquely mine out of these elements. With creative and artistic effort, I composed a new view of the bridge and surrounding nature. On the exhibit day, June 7, 2014, one gentleman complimented me stating the painting is the most beautiful work at the exhibit. The painting was purchased by Arts for Rural Texas shortly after the exhibit.
Twisted Oak
I don't need to have a nice reference image to create a painting. Sometimes, I prefer to have a blurry, ugly, or simple black and white image. The photo I took from moving car was used for the painting "Twisted oak".
